About me...
I’m Maya Segal, a documentary director and producer working at the intersection of science, nature and human experience.
My films explore how people connect with the natural world and with the deeper forces that shape our lives, from marine ecosystems and conservation to the science of the brain and human resilience. I’m particularly interested in stories where scientific discovery, Indigenous knowledge and personal transformation meet.
Trained at the National Film and Television School in Directing and Producing Science and Natural History Documentaries, I work closely with scientists, conservationists and communities to bring complex ideas to life through character-driven storytelling.
My work moves between observational documentary and visually expressive storytelling, combining cinematic natural history with intimate human narratives.
